VOLUME AND FLOWRATE OF WATER AND LIQUIDS LABORATORY
       
      Quantity - Volume flow - volume of liquid passing through the meter divided by the time unit.
Mass flow - mass of liquid passing through the meter divided by the time unit.
Delivered mass or volume.

      Unit - m3/h, l/h, l/s, l/min (volume flow), t/h, kg/h, kg/s, kg/min (mass flow).
      Tasks of the laboratory
      The main task of the Laboratory is realisation of volume flow, mass flow, delivered mass and volume units for liquids, calibration of flow meters and volume meter.

    Available metrological services
      Calibration of standards of flowrate and volume flow of water and liquids (range: from 0.02 m3/h to 270 m3/h; expanded uncertainty (k=2) is 0.03 %). calibration and verification of cold water meters, hot water meters and volumetric parts of heat meters (range: from 0.02 m3/h to 270 m3/h; expanded uncertainty is 0.2 %). Calibration and verification of flow meters other than water. calibration and verification of massflow meters (range: from 0.02 m3/h to 270 m3/h; expanded uncertainty is 0.1 %). Calibration of test assemblies for water meters (range: from 0.01 m3/h to 1000 m3/h; expanded uncertainty is 0.03 %). Calibration of Volumetric Tanks (range: from 2 dm3 to 5 000 000 dm3; expanded uncertainty is 0.2 %).
      Methods of measurement:
      - verification of secondary standards is performed in an accordance with the national regulation, pattern testing og water meters is performed in an accordance with the Act of metrology of Slovak republic and in an accordance with the ISO standards. verification is performed direct with comparison the SMU standards.
       
    Instuments in use
      For verification of secondary standards of 1. and 2. orders and for testing for type approval of water meters is used the National Standard of Flowrate of cold and hot water. It is a gravimetric standard device with switching flappervalve, with a range of measurement up to 270 m3/h within a temperature range up to 85°C. water meters pattern testing is performed using a reference standards - volume flow meter with a piston and a standard electromagnetic inductance flow meter.
Pattern testing of flowmeters for technical liquid as well as verification of secondary standards of technical liquids flowrate is performed using a calibrated measuring container and calibrated balance.
      Pattern testing and verification of meters of medium and large volume of liquid is performed using calibrated measuring containers and geometrical methods.
